About me

Hello, it's great to meet you!

My name is Edward and I'm an English teacher with 25 years of classroom experience, across the world. If I can be honest, I rather fell into teaching, which was lucky because it has given me the opportunity to work in every professional field possible. I have interpreted in courts, coached surgeons, checked on CEOs, written contracts for lawyers, corrected architects, explained to Olympians, calmed down pilots and even found time to teach!

I find it fascinating how language shapes our perception of the world, and how getting your language right can have a massive impact on our lives.

When I'm not working , I love travelling the world and immerse myself in other cultures, especially those that are very different from my own. I see how language is reflected in culture and only by knowing that culture can language be truly understood.

Translation Service

Urgency can be an issue, but the solution is always on hand at a cost that will not break the bank. In all my work I investigate the real sense  of the text to be translated, then authentically convey its equivalent in the translation. To date translations have been provided in the following fields:

legal

medical

military

business

art (architecture)

science (engineering)

political science

economics

educational science

marketing

IT

Editing/Proof-reading

The success  of a deal can depend on sophisticated wording. Meticulous review and correction of a text is vital when concluding a contract, the same is also true of websites, publications, articles, books and marketing materials.

I enquire into the purpose and special features of the language, whilst  correcting spelling and stylistic errors, or searching greater clarity.

 Editing

Here the content perspective is secured by following the best terminology and style, ensuring the translation truly reflects the original text.

Proofreading

Style and  suitability and correct grammar are the key for the target audience, while correcting errors caused by typos that often appear in translations.

My teaching style

My experience has taught me that each student is unique in their preferred way of learning. This is why I create a teaching course to you specifically, after an initial consultation with you.

However, my personality and teaching style will shine through, regardless of the specific course I create for you. I am passionate about what I do, and my excitement is evident. I want all my classes and one-on-one sessions to be exciting and interesting, and you should leave each class or session feeling happier than when it started.

Learning a new language can be difficult and frustrating at times, but with my approach and teaching style it should be a great experience no matter what.

I use a variety of media and materials in my teaching, aiming to stimulate all your senses. It's amazing how a rich sensory experience will speed up the learning and enhance recall of the course material.
